More than a scholarship, Greater NY Chinese Dollars for Scholars is a community where scholarship recipients continue to remain engaged and grow as part of our alumni community. We believe in empowering students in their higher education through scholarship and academic, career and life-skills development support to not only achieve their own success but to become meaningful contributors in their community.
Application Deadline: May 31, 2020
I. Scholarship Details:
Scholarships are for high school seniors of Chinese descent entering college in the fall.
Wonton Scholarship is open to students nationwide. Other scholarships are for students living in NY, NJ and CT.
Please apply for only one of the scholarship categories listed. We will consider you for other scholarship categories for which you are eligible.
5 Wonton Food Achievement Scholarships: Four-Year Scholarships for children of persons working in the Asian restaurant business* (Total is $20,000).
2 Need-Based Scholarships: Four-Year Need-Based Scholarships (Total is $20,000).
6 Merit Scholarships: Four-Year Scholarships for $1,000 per year (Total is $4000)
2 New Immigrant Scholarships (students arriving in the US after 1/1/17): Four-Year New Immigrant Scholarships for $1,000 per year. (Total is $4000)
Number and amount of awards are subject to the full discretion of the award committee.
* Parent or guardian must be working in the Asian restaurant in the US for at least a year.
Distribution Method: A check will be sent directly to the college or university to assist the award recipient with tuition expenses.
II. Selection Criteria To Be Considered:
Must be a full-time student.
Evidence of student’s outstanding academic performance. Must have a 3.5 or higher GPA.
Extracurricular/Community Service: Should have demonstrated leadership participating in school clubs or community.
One letter of recommendation: Must provide letter of recommendation from someone who has personal knowledge of the student such as a teacher or student advisor.
Personal statement regarding student’s goals and aspirations and reason for applying and obstacles overcome by the student if applicable.
Financial need will be considered based on FAFSA EFC and college financial aid award letter. If unavailable, tax returns or other proof of financial need may be accepted.
Students applying for the Wonton Food Scholarship should include w2/tax return or other proof of parent or legal guardian's working in the Asian restaurant business in US for at least one year and proof of court appointed legal guardianship if applicable.

I. 獎學金細節:

獎學金的數量和類型。 請選擇一項申請。 我們會自動審核符合資格的其他獎項。
5 個四年云吞食品公司獎學金 , 每年五千元 (共二萬元)
2 個四年 Need-Based 獎學金, 四年二萬元
6個四年優秀獎學金，每年一千元（共四千元）
2個四年新移民獎學金 (2017年1月1日後來美的學生)， 每年一千元（共四千元）
獎學金發放的人數和金額將由獎學金委員會決定。 分發辦法﹕ 支票將直接寄到學生所就讀的大學，以補助學費。 獎學金申請截止日期5月31日
II. 挑選獎學金得獎學生標準﹕
必須是全職學生
學生優秀成績的證明，平均分必須達到3.5或以上
應該參與學校或社區活動顯示出在課餘活動的領導能力或曾贏得獎項
必須提供一封推薦信，而推薦人必須熟悉申請學生，例如老師或學生顧問
自傳: 說明申請人的興趣/目標/願望及特殊情況或克服的困難
家庭財政需要將予以考慮
申請云吞食品公司獎學金的學生應提供w2 /納稅表或其他家長/法定監護人在美國亞洲餐館業工作至少一年的證明。(以及法院指定監護人證明。) 云吞食品公司獎學金開放給全國學生申請。
新移民申請者須在自傳說明語言、文化適應以外特殊經歷
